Kaizer Chiefs are one of the clubs in the Premier Soccer League that are working on building their team this summer after their poor performance in the just concluded season.

Nasreddine Nabi ended his first season with a trophy as he broke the ten years wait for a title with a win over Orlando Pirates in the Nedbank Cup final.

Briefly News look at the three players Nasreddine Nabi must keep at the club despite being criticised.

3 Kaizer Chiefs stars Nasreddine Nabi should keep

1. Yusuf Maart

The South African midfielder has been under serious criticism from fans and pundits since the start of the just-concluded season but ended the campaign on a good note by scoring the winning goal in the Nedbank Cup final against Orlando Pirates.

Maart currently captains the Glamour Boys and was recently hailed by Amakhosi former captain Tefu Mashamaite for redeeming himself after being subjected to criticism for the most part of the season.

There have been calls from fans for the club to ditch Maart this summer, but it would be advisable for Nabi and his team to keep hold of the former Orlando Pirates star for yet another season at the club.

2. Edmilson Dove

The Mozambique international was injured at the start of the 2024-25 season and returned to the team in the latter stages of the campaign.

Dove struggled with form when he came back to the team and was criticised for not replicating his top-notch performance before being injured with many calling for a replacement this summer.

The former Cape Town City defender is a utility player who can play as a left-back and also as a centre-back. Losing such a player might be detrimental to Nabi's side in the upcoming season.

3. Bruce Bvuma

The South African goalkeeper displaced last summer's signing Fiacre Ntwari from the starting XI spot after the Rwandan international failed to produce the cover he was brought into the team for.

Bvuma started well when he took over the goalkeeper role but faltered on the way, which also led to him losing his place in the latter stages of the season.

He was benched for Brandon Peterson in the last few games of the season and they've been serious calls for Kaizer Chiefs to bring in a new shot-stopper this summer.

Bvuma can still do better and would be a quality back to whoever Nabi decides to bring in as the number goalkeeper for the 2025-26 season.

Report: Kaizer Chiefs signs Pirates star

Briefly News also reported that Kaizer Chiefs are said to have reached an agreement of a pre-contract with a Pirates star this summer.

The Glamour Boys are yet to confirm the deal, with the player and the Bucs also keeping mute concerning the rumours.
